THE HONGTEYA MATERIAL LIBRARY
Choose for your day. Understand the label. Find a fit that feels right.

One label, several useful clues
A good choice brings together the fiber blend, fabric thickness, lining and fit. Use this comparison as a starting point; two garments with the same composition can feel quite different.

|---|---|---|---|
| Polyester blends | Durable, crease-resistant and quick-drying fiber. Textile Exchange — Polyester. | Regular rotation; practical everyday dressing. | Lining, fabric weight and finished feel. |

A closer look at our 87 / 13 blend
87%
Polyester
13%
Spandex
Fiber composition by weight for the HONGTEYA tights discussed here. Check the label of your chosen style.
The everyday foundation
The 87% polyester component supplies most of the fabric. Polyester’s general strength, crease resistance and drying characteristics are useful in regularly worn clothing. Textile Exchange — Polyester.
Room to move
The 13% spandex component contributes stretch. The amount of stretch and recovery you experience also depends on the yarn, knit and fit. CottonWorks — Spandex.
Look for this composition on the specific product label. For a winter pair, also check the lining and thickness: the blend alone does not determine warmth, opacity or a temperature rating.
Match the pair to your plans
Desk to dinner
Start with a comfortable waistband and the coverage your outfit needs. Try sitting and walking before deciding on the fit.
Skirts with boots
Compare lined or more substantial tights. Match the whole outfit to your time outdoors, wind and personal comfort.
Your preferred finish
Choose sheer, semi-opaque or opaque by the look you want. Check the actual product photos and construction.
A few things worth knowing
Does more spandex always mean better tights?
No. The proportion is one part of the design. Comfort also depends on size, knitting and how the waistband and legs are shaped. A higher percentage does not establish a better fit.
Are spandex, elastane and LYCRA® the same?
Spandex and elastane are generic names for the same fiber category. LYCRA® is a specific brand. Our supplied composition is described as spandex. The LYCRA Company — Spandex and elastane terminology.
Does 60D tell me how warm a pair will be?
Denier measures yarn weight per 9,000 meters. It does not provide a temperature rating. Look at thickness, lining and fit as well. CottonWorks — Denier.
Can I choose winter tights by material alone?
Use material together with weight, construction and fit. REI’s layering guide makes those separate considerations. Your other clothing and activity also affect comfort. REI Expert Advice — How to Choose Base Layers.
How should a comfortable pair fit?
Try sitting and bending your knees. Check that the crotch stays in place and the waistband feels secure without needing constant adjustment. Use the chosen style’s size chart.
How should I wash my pair?
Follow its care label. Check the approved washing method, water temperature and drying instructions for that specific style.
